What exactly is VIDA? Is it volvo's own brand diagnostics kind of thing and is it only a Volvo dealer would have it?

Yes, pretty much. VIDA is the software, and DICE (or suitabke equivalent) is the hardware interface.

It's less likely but worth checking...and that's the turbo piping. I had a similar issue where my intercooler boost pipe had a split and the engine still went but felt strange and also wouldn't start after a while. Consider inspecting all turbo pipes.

Just a shot in the dark here. Is the battery in good condition and is the alternator putting out the correct voltage?
