I read over on a different specific XC40 forum that Apple CarPlay will be coming week 20 (so mid May) in the USA and that it will be wired !

Today i took my XC60 Rdesign-pro to my local dealership to have the GPS antenna replaced! it had faulted and lost GPS connection

The unit was replaced and the car was updated to Version 2.0 of the software
This has NOW broken the USB playback into audiowagon!

so suggest that you keep your cars running 1.10 for as long as possible as i was told that they "Don't currently know WHEN it might be fixed"

Is it broken or just changed the move of USB connection? I assume it was using MTP or mass storage mode previously. Possibly in preparation for the rumoured wired carplay

Nope totally broken! the USB ports are still there and work for charging your phone THATS ALL, at the moment!

That’s kinda what I meant - USB ports support multiple different connection types. Perhaps they have changed it from ‘mass storage’ to something else. It’s easily done with an Android phone for example

Nope can't even play music stored on the phone via USB cable, They have somehow disabled all DATA transfer via the USB-C connector, I dont think it has anything to do with CarPlay, it's to do with the underlying OS upgrade from Androide V10 to V11 that is where the REAL problem is, and that is why Volvo cant currently give a time frame as to when it will be sorted again!

All in all is a bit of a S**T show on their part!
UK Customer Services will just give lip service to the issue, the Dealerships are the one on the front line here and its them i feel sorry for in this case! the car and the AAOS infotainment system has been rushed out TOO EARLY its NOT READY for customer use yet!

My dealership has multi open cases with Volvo technical in the UK about my car! and today they added a new one! Im now waiting to hear if they can uninstall 2.0 and reinstall 1.10 as that all worked! UNTIL the fix in 2.0X is released!

There are loads of different data transfer protocols used on USB C - my point was perhaps they changed from the mass storage protocol (which Audiowagon used) to another.

It’s very difficult to do a full Android downgrade (in this case from 11 to 9), I’d be amazed if a dealer even has a flash tool capable of doing it.

Well after having the car for only 10 days and 400 miles mine advised me it wanted to update to v 2.0 today - and as I was working from home and didn't need to use it for hours I tentatively allowed it to.

Got the message via the app a hour or so later stating update successful.

Started it up an hour ago to collect my wife - icons for heated seat and steering wheel nowhere to be seen, climate stuck on LO (its 6 degrees outside!), oil and adblue reading zero..etc etc.

Have taken it for a drive, stopped, turned off, locked with key, unlocked and got back in and all of a sudden its all back to normal.

Not confidence inspiring - flaky at the very least.
