There's a c-clip retaining the cross driver (inner part of the outer CV). It's supposed to contract into the drive shaft when you drift the cross driver off the drive shaft but the ends can get stuck outside the drive shaft.
You are best drifting directly above the c-clip ends and working around rather than using brute force. If you clean the CV while still on the drive shaft you can just see the c-clip. It will come off quite smoothly if you get it right, and resist strongly if you don't. You're supposed to replace the c-clip... I generally haven't. |

Hi, I have stuck patches along the seem and it has worked, so that will do until i get the CV joint off. I have ordered a seal incase i have to take the drive shaft out, I know that wouldn't be too much of a problem on a D5, but on the V8 there is not a lot of room to get the drive shaft bracket off, and to replace the seal.
