xc90 V8 drive shaft
Hi, I changed the wishbone bushes for the powerflex ones, but when putting it back together again i nipped the outer gaiter on the drive shaft on the right hand side. Can the gaiter be replaced without taking the drive shaft out? Thanks Ian

Rubber gaiter? Try repairing it with a bicycle puncture repair kit.

You can get stretchy ones that fit over the CV joint but they're mostly crap...
You can also remove the CV joint and do it that way without removing the whole driveshaft.

Ian, if you can get to it easy enough...give the Rubber a good clean with Meths and then seal the split with some decent Super Glue.
Rubber n Superglue were made for each other...lol

Hi, I have fitted two split boot gators first one leaked straight away, the second was fine until i drove on the motorway, only about twenty miles, when i got back i checked it and it's leaking a little. In the meantime i'm going to clean it and try some glue. But i want to do it properly, does anybody know how i can get the CV joint off without taking the driveshaft out. Thanks

Best to take the driveshaft out. It's only a couple extra bolts (holding the driveshaft bearing), and you will probably need to clamp it to get the CV off. It can be fairly tight.
