What is the general concensus on the Bluepower units? They all show out of stock, nice clean but expensive option but cupholder can stay!

You'll have to ignore the fake carbon fibre effect vinyl that was just something I tried out and will probably take off again next time I've got it apart. Imagine it all in matching grey

Speakers were 50 quid for the pair or I probably wouldn't have chosen them. Having said that wired up for 1ohm they shake the crap out of the car.
Generally I have them set to a nice comfortable medium punch but there's always those times when you just want to rinse out the old school jungle

Sub box is home made as I love a bit of woodwork, I've done it to most of my cars but this one is the tidyest, it's so snug in there it's actually really hard to get in and out. Actually slightly too large for those speakers but whatever.. peaks around 50hz

Inside the arm rest obviously I had to make quite a big hole to get the usb through so the white plate is something I 3d printed in two parts to clamp the cable and cover up the mess. It's just glued on

Also there's another thing to add to the endless rambling .. for some reason whether it's my setup or a Volvo interfacing issue the head unit thinks my handbrake is on when it's off and vice versa.

So I can watch films while I'm driving along (though I don't, obviously) but more importantly it won't let you type postcodes in etc when you're parked, it's voice only. If that issue arises and confuses you, take the handbrake off and hey presto you can use the keyboard

Quick question, if you replace the HU-850 unit does it have to be coded? I read that if same/similar MY would be ok but would like to know.

the round usb connectors on mine are power only, they don't connect to the head unit unfortunately

the only connection to the head unit is on a permanently connected fly-lead that goes through under the centre console and comes out in the arm rest box..

I would advise trying out the extension leads and sockets etc before committing to cutting holes anywhere because mine for example won't work with any sort of extension lead or adaptors, I don't really know why. the manual even says 'will not work with extension leads'

which is annoying because I wanted to make mine a flush dash mounted female usb port that I could plug my phone into but it wouldn't work

if it did I'd just look on RS components probably https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?sear...anel+mount+usb
