sorry, yes they are upside down. iPhone photos, didn't realise they needed reformatting til id posted them. I think it is something to do with living down under..
In NZ we drive on the left like England, and call the cars RHD (not trying to patronise, just be accurate).
The car manual only shows the fuse box on the right side passenger footwell for a LHD car like, I presume, Sweden. But in a RHD car it is still in the passenger footwell, but on the other, left, side.. And the pics neglect to tell you the damned carpet is over it and very difficult to wrestle out of the way.
And then when you do get to the fuse box, it is upside down!
Lots of fun.
I hope it goes to the dealer tomorrow, and I shall report back.

I have turned the photo so you can get a better idea of where it is, (passenger footwell left side wall) low down behind the door hinge pillar. At least that is how I see it. Correct me if I am wrong.

so the XC90 is at the dealers'. they came up to the house (half a mile from dealership) and unlocked the electric handbrake. towed it down.
2 days later fault is a failed steering lock, as some of you predicted. Parts arrive tomorrow, apparently no charge, I don't know if Volvo paying or my aftermarket mechanical insurance.
for good measure I am preventatively replacing the two batteries, both 5 years old.

Of course, the dealership gave my wife a sparkling 9 month old XC90 courtesy car with 2000km on the clock...she said its better than ours, everything works better...trying to get us to trade in!

Now I know that the fuse box is located on the lef side, the OP didn't seem

That was from the UK manual for my V60

I checked the UK XC90 manual, same error. A bit embarrassing, and possibly quite confusing!

I'm not sure what you mean by an error. It clearly states the fuse box under the glove box changes sides for the RHD models.
