Default putting a tow bar on a V90CC

I have a V90cc thats still under factory warranty and would like to put a towbar on it.

yes it will need software to activate the tow bar module.

It’s not the cheapest option but it’s the best option, no worries, no hassle and at the push of the button the tow bar releases and drops down. Jobs a good un!

+1 For the OEM towbar. I recently had this fitted.
Ease of use is effortless.
Access to electrics is great, far easier to reach than the brink system I had on my last car, so for those who are ..... not so athletic anymore (like me) it's a bonus.
Software also does a self check of the trailer/caravan lights which is great if you are solo towing.

I recently had the factory towbar fitted at my local Volvo dealer on my 2021 V90CC and I have to say its brilliant...not cheap but in my opinion well worth the extra.

I had a non-OEM towbar fitted to my previous 2018 V90, I had a fixed swan-neck Thule bar and PF Jones dedicated wiring harness, total cost was around £350 PLUS £150 fitting. HOWEVER. even with it being a plug-in harness I was advised that Volvo couldn't "code" the car to use the various built in software (lamp check etc) AND the fitter connected the fog light delete function to the fuel gauge (apparently the wires are the same colour) so when the trailer lights were plugged in the fuel gauge stopped working.

All got sorted but for my current 2022 V90 I had a genuine Volvo system installed, more expensive but everything works just as it should.

If you get a aftermarket towbar I would still get the Volvo electrics kit - it's the only one that will disable the reverse lights, fog lights, parking sensors and more importantly enable Trailer Stability Program when towing....
