I see. Will take her to a proper air specialist and see what they say.
Will report back in due course. Thanks for the help so far. If any one knows of anything else, please let me know.

It does say on a sticker under the bonnet that the original gas has a dye in it that can be traced with a black light (UV). You can get these very cheap online http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...light&_sacat=0 less than a fiver.

Next look down on either side of the condenser - there is one bolt on the left side and another on the right. Both of these need to come out. You may need to take the battery out to get good access to the left side. Lastly, disconnect the 2 metal hoses that connect directly to the condenser. Push the rad back (gently) and pull up the condenser. Be very careful not to damage the rad fins in the process. Always replace the O-rings and lube with refrigerant oil. Also, make sure you add the correct amount of refrigerant oil via the low pressure service valve for every piece you replace. I believe that replacing the condenser calls for 30ml to be added but I could be wrong. Note - if you are opening up the system, make sure you replace the accumulator/dryer. I did not (long story) and I'm pretty sure this caused my replacement compressor to leak profusely during the hottest @#$$$% month ever here in Toronto. Note: You will also need to add 30ml of refrigerant oil to the dryer itself before reinstallation. Note II: the dryer should not be exposed to humidity/atmospheric pressure for longer than it needs to be. Get everything ready before you replace this pop off the rubber seals, fill with refrigerant oil, and install. NOTE: Wear protective eye-wear in case there is residual pressure in the system!

Not really. If there was dye in the oil, it would be bright green coloured. Otherwise I would imagine it would look like light coloured motor oil. Are there traces of anything on the underside of engine?

I did replace the condenser a year ago now, and it is easy to do. Just make sure you get the correct condenser. E.g a x40 1.8 will not fit a t4. And in all fairness Gatos dud supply me the correct condenser.
