Default Map Update V60

I downloaded the UK/iceland update onto usb stick using a MacBook. Put into USB port, car does not do anything. What am I doing wrong? It is FAT32.

A couple of queries:

1. What's the capacity of the USB stick? It needs to be at least 32GB.

2. Was the USB stick empty of all other data prior to downloading the map update? The stick needs to be empty - I always use the 'Erase' option from the Mac Disk Utility prior to downloading an update.

3. Did you use the Sensus Update app to download the update directly to the USB stick? This isn't absolutely essential but it's the easiest way to do it.

The first time I did it, I downloaded to my desktop machine (PC, not Mac) and then copied across the new folder from the 'download' folder. This didn't work, because it copied across the folder itself, and the executable upgrade file is inside the folder so it wasn't seen by the system. So I deleted that one, and copied all the contents from the folder across instead of the folder itself. This worked straight away.

Before you go reformatting the drive or re-downloading the update, first check that the USB memory is fully pushed in to the USB socket in the car. I drove around for a week waiting for it to start only to realise that there should be a click when the USB memory is fully inserted (I hadn't pushed it in far enough!). This was with a SanDisk stick, it was in the socket but I hadn't pushed it past the "click" mechanism of the car's USB socket. Once I did that, the car starting installing the update almost immediately, certainly within a few seconds after the ignition was on.

Noticed 1380 is now available probably about time I updated maps I only bothered OTA and the file became too large for my chosen region quite some time ago.

Just as a guide what's an average length of time it takes to complete in the car I don't drive far usually, however, I do have a 4 plus hour trip to Cornwall next week so perhaps an ideal time to download the full 54GB an complete a large update?

Do folks tend to log in to 'my volvo' or just direct from volvo website can't see there's much value in logging in and always takes me ages to find that page, not found a use other than extending the VOC?

Pretty sure I have a clear 64GB USB formatted to FAT32 so hopefully straight forward.

I found out that time is highly dependent from quality of your USB drive. Cheap one that i have used previously take nearly 2h to complete. Last month I bought proper 64GB USB and all 54GB was loaded in 35min.
Make sure that if you start to update your maps via USB you have to finish it. Other way you will end up with messages "Navigation not available. Restart system or visit your retailer" and on main screen "Load maps via USB". It will disappear when you load maps till the end

The Sensus Navigation User Guide on Page 26 says the File System of the USB Memory is required to be FAT32.

The first time I attempted it, I used a USB Memory that I had lying about in my desk at work, which was formatted for NTFS. That did not work, but it did work after I reformatted it.

Map download for Sensus Navigation

Preparations
The map must be downloaded to an empty USB memory (64GB) in one of the following formats: FAT32, NTFS or exFAT. The capacity of the USB memory required depends on map size, see detailed information for each map.

I have only tried NTFS format on my memory STICK

Just want to be absolutely clear before I update maps I can only format to exFAT as FAT32 has been replaced it appears. The Sensus will accept exFAT?
