Hi .... D5 in a v50 09 plate ... was going to work on Monday morning and got to work and revs shot up ...down ....up .....down .... stopped .... won't start again .... but when you turn ignition off the swirl flap lever and the throttle module chatter like false teeth for 30 seconds .. then switches off

The moving of the swirlflap after shutting down is a calibration process that takes place after every 5th shutdown.

Has nothing to do with your other problem

The mechanic has plugged it in and send all the codes to a technician who sent a load of tests to do ....they have done the tests and sent the results and have now been told its ECU in the wheel arch liner ...... so it needs a new one ..... I've been quoted £650 for him to get a recon unit ..... cloned and fitted ..... does that sound about right ?

sounds dodgy to me , make sure you don't end up paying for an ECU and find it is something else , It will be more economical getting the diagnosis from a dealer .
