Exterior trim clips
Need some of the small plastic trim clips that 140/160 cars use, about a dozen. If someone has some left over from a project that would be ideal.

I have tried some of these and the trim kept "popping" off but luckily it was always noticed before I totally lost it!
I have now used the method explained by JohnH here : http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...92#post1173092 and am pleased to report that it works a treat and is far better than the plastic clips available. You don't need to bond the bolts in place, I haven't and it still works fine!

A good method, although I'd prefer to go the original route. I've had no issues with trim falling off. My trim is missing as the rear panel is a replacement and previously no-one had bothered to replace the trim (or drill the holes for that matter)

Cheap from Brookhouse. Make sure you get the yellowy ones. There was a batch of bright white ones a while back that were rubbish. Get 10 to 20% more than you need as you'll mess up on some - I always do.
You can probably find them on ebay too. I would not try the steel bolts idea myself. Too much trouble I reckon. The plastic clips are fitted by pushing the central pin in once you have the clip in place. Tried various methods and now mostly use a handy little plastic faced hammer from the snapon man.

The ones you refer to are actually a different type (fitted to many '70s cars and very effective); these are lozenge shaped and rely only on a tight friction fit. The ones you refer to may well do if the right diameter. I shall enquire with Brookhouse if they have any. There was someone in Greece selling the lozenge type on eBay a while ago but they were rather expensive!

Rouded off rectangle
Both types were from Brookhouse and listed for Volvo 144 etc. I think the yellowy ones were original and the white ones someone's repo. I think Brookhouse will only the supply the better ones now.
With 164 wheel arch trim in particular it's worth checking the state of the inside of the trim as these get distorted. A bit of careful fiddling about with a blunt screwdriver should straighten them out.
