Default Busy Sunday Afternoon

Had a great few hours on the car today, only three weeks until the first event of the season;

Removed sump guard for a tidy-up

All fluids changed, even splashed out on some proper oil for the LSD

Modified and re-set rear exhaust mounts

Changed both engine mounts, gearbox one done last year

Swapped all the wheels

Actually, looking at the list it's not much but it kept me busy!

Proper pottering!!

Hi, what sort of events are you doing in that 144/2. Hill climbing? I live in Stroud and i'm planning on checking out some of the 'Cotswold clouds' events this year. JImmy

Hi Jimmy

No, not hillclimbing, historic road rallying. All organised by www.hrcr.co.uk, I've also used her (a 144) on long distance events like the Lands End to John O Groats and competed amidst modern cars on the SW night rally circuit.

Nearest we get to Stroud is Ross on Wye in July. If you see us out, come and say hello. You'll hear us before you see us!

I'd be really interested in coming out to see you guys as well, do you compete anywhere near Hampshire?

On another note, I keep looking for videos on Youtube of any 144s in Historic Rallys, and all I keep finding is Escorts!

Have you been filmed rallying Snowman?

Not that I know of. I was chatting to a photographer once who said that green cars are a pain to shoot as they blend in with the background too well. They like good contrast colours like red/white etc.

When you actually watch these cars it has to be said they're not exactly WRC standard! They feel fast when you're in them but from outside, not very dramatic!

Not much happens near you Rich for historics, they venture onto Salisbury plain in August (I won't because I'm on holiday!) and that's probably the closest.

I don't know about it being boring to watch, I found this clip online

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31pChSn9lmE

I am assuming this is from a road rally stage is it not? Again though it is the boys in the Escorts that seem to have the most fun sliding around! In fact some of the footage I found online of the Roger Albert Clark 2010 historics was fantastic! No 144s though!

Personally I would prefer to watch this rather than some modern 4 wheel drive thing zooming through some woods!

I found these two videos with 144s in, but they both seem to be foreign.

On the last one, it would have been a whole lot better if the guy had a tripod!
