Ok, so any companies that you know of that you would recommend? I am based in Camberley, Surrey so nearby would be good, but willing to ship the car.[/QUOTE]

The last re-built engine I bought was years ago so cant recommend any particular firm but do be careful and check specs thoroughly. I would also ask to see the workshop as any self respecting company will have nothing to hide.

As said, too many companies rip an engine out of a scrapper and call it reconditioned. I'd check what a recon actually means: you used to get 'short' engines where pistons and rings had been replaced as a matter of course, valves checked etc; and, full recons where the whole engine was stripped and rebuilt having had tolerances checked.

Just contacted Volvo Customer Services.
No recalls outstanding for my vehicle but there is an outstanding 'Service Campaign' related to the hydraulic belt tensioner.
My 'preferred' dealer will contact me directly. Free of charge.
Soon I hope....

yes that needs to be done as soon as 54000 miles is reached , likely to fail sometime after that and before it is due to be replaced at 108000 miles or 10 years . .

I'm on 92k. It appears that unless you go to a dealer you don't hear about it.
Have to wait until the 6th to get it done. Going to be stressing now...
