Default 240 third seat installation

Does anybody know where I can find an installation manual, or good instructions for the third seat of a 240 wagon? I am hoping to find a pdf online I can download. It's already 1:00 on Sunday and I'm only half way done with the job!

Try George Homer's site. Look under 'Make your car nicer' and then 'install third seat'. The address is

http://www.ttsservices.co.uk/my%20volvos.htm

I fitted mine without instructions, but remembered how the bits had been on the car I removed it from. The crucial points are:

1) The catch mechanism in the middle of the floor. This has to align accurately with the corresponding bit on the folding floor of the seat. That is pre-determined by the ready-made cut out slot in the panel, so you have to mark carefully where the four mounting bolts go through the floor of the car. (DON'T just let the drill burst through - there is a petrol pipe the other side!)
The catch should hold the seat down when in position, but automatically release the catch as you fold the collapsed seat back into the well.

2) There are two flexible wire straps near the hinge of the floor panel. These fold away down into the storage compartment, but should be nearly tight when the seat is unfolded. These are to reinforce the ordinary piano-lid type hinge, which alone would be unable to cope with deceleration forces on the seat/floor assembly.

3) The seat belt retractor mechanisms mount on top of the wings, and should be such that the straps emerge vertically. The other mounting, to take the end of the belt, is also bolted to the wing, but its position is less critical and can be judged by seating someone as a trial.

Good luck. My children have been squabbling over whose turn it is to use them ever since I fitted them!
