Default 240 "extra" instrumentation

I've seen a 240 in the local scrappy with the extra instrumentation pack: volt meter, oil temp, oil pressure (?) and outside temp (in a separate "pod" below the clock.

Two questions: what is the best way to remove the instruments without damaging them; where are the associated senders? Oh, and a third, if I want to fit them to a car that has the "shelf" above the air vents, do I need to remove any sort of fitting frame from the donor car?

Thanks.

Hi,

Senders:

Oil pressure is the oil pressure switch between the oil filter and the alternator. You can unscrew the main part of the switch. I think you will also need to remove a brass adaptor from the block. There are 2 wires coming off this sensor.

Oil temp is either a sump plug with a connector on it or a replacement dipstick with wires coming off it. You have no choice but to drain the oil if it's the sump plug.

Outside temp is probably near/underneath the front bumper. It's a brass cylinder about an inch long attached to a small metal bracket. Trace wires to the front of the car and you will probably find it.

Voltmeter hasnt got a sender, just a connection from a live and an earth.

Pop the covers off the gauges nearest the steering wheel. You will see 2 screws that holds the frame with the 3 gauges in. Undo those and you should be able to pull the frame forward. For the gauges not in the frame, They can just be pulled out by hand.

Take all the associated pieces of plastic and the little rubber feet which holds the far right gauges in. The 3 gauges will probably be wired in sequence ( chained off each other) Try to remove as much wiring as possible including all the light bulbs + plastic connectors.

If you want any pics of the senders or anything to do with the gauges email me at ianluscombe@btinternet.com and I will take some pics for you.

Cheers

Ian
