Question Double Din replacement

Hi there, this is my first post on these forums . I am interested in replacing my SC - 805 with a Kenwood DPX501U. However, in a recent corrosponding thread problems were mentioned. I was wondering if anyone had successfully (and easily) managed to do this?

Thanks all!

I've replaced my double din HU for a single, using a genuine Volvo single din pocket. Part No.30613741

Do a search on e bay using "Volvo Double Din" and you should find an advert (or 10) selling the pocket & a wiring adaptor for £22 including UK postage.

Not sure if the wiring adaptor would be suitable for your stereo in which case it would be a waste of money.

Probably better to check your local scrappy for Volvo's, the pocket is very easy to remove/Install as it just slides in. No tools required.

Cheers

I'd agree with all thats been said here I picked my single din pocket up the
other day (don't waste time or money with the crap from halfords the pockets from there don't fit and look s**t) as for the wiring harness that should be easy to get from http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/home.html
as for which lead that should be easy to tell from the back of your existing stereo .

having done this recently I'd be happy to help answer any Q's

Concur, DO NOT try to use an aftermarket single din pocket. Use the volvo one, its fits %100 perfect and has 2 little posts on it the hold the stereo cage in place. I had mine done by a proffesitional car audio centre who even said that thier own brand do not work properly..nightmares etc...wont stay still...ratles.....slides out under acceleration etc. Buy volvo its worth it.

waht solution did you have to the small bit of trim around the new head unit?
Halfords have a scrappy black thing but I'd like a volvo grey one.

I asked in the dealer when ordering the single pocket but they don't seem to make one
