hall mark are very good. i use them for the jobs i cant manage any more. the cem has several multi pin plugs and can be prone to bad connections on certain volvo models. but a hole in your car wont help .its good to hear you have found some resolve to the problem keep posting with any up dates.

Yes, I really like Hallmark. I used them for all my services and repairs for the C30 they always gave me decent and fair advice and I never caught them trying to rip me off or upsell me or anything like that. I'd much rather pay more and get a proper, professional job than pay peanuts and get monkeys. |

its possible that the problem may stop once the water ingress has been solved but a clean of the cem plugs with some cleaner would not do any harm let us know how it goes.

Just so I read this right - 'a hole' is letting in water?
IIRC - are they referring to a hole in the scuttle where a cable runs through? I seem to recall this mentioned a long time ago - water running down the loom to the connector. The only other water issue I've seen mentioned is with respect to sun roof drains blocked drowning the module under the drivers seat - but you say yours hasn't got a sunroof. SO - it's possibly more about when it rains rather than the terrain your driving through possibly. Mine doesn't have a sunroof and I've been in water over the wheels and it's remained completely dry inside (2005MY). Cheers Ian |

I took the car in last week and they fixed/ waterproofed the area and it seems like it's done the trick. I forgot to mention earlier that when I did go over a deep puddle/ it was raining heavily, the passenger footwell would get damp as well and that looks like it is fixed now too. if the electronics all work fine now, do I really *need* to get the CEM replaced? even if it does have long-term water damage? Hallmark are insisting that I do but it seems a bit strange to me to change something that is working fine. |

It will either fail in the future, or never again. It's a risk but a calculated one - few units seem to go completely dead whilst in use.

Also worth checking, if water ingress from deep wading, there are several floor rubber bungs under the car that if missing can allow water ingress if wading, they are inexpensive to replace from Volvo and IMO worth checking and doing if required, its either 6 or 8 bungs in total, cant remember exactly (40/50mm in size.)

It has been a few weeks now, with quite heavy rainfall most days with often having to drive through deep puddles. no water ingress was noticed and no problem with the headlights has returned. I think this has solved it!
