360 electric windows
A lad who works for me has recently bought an '85 360 and wants to know if he can replace the manual windows with the electric mechanism from a scrap 480. Any ideas guys?

RE: 360 electric windows
i doubt it. there are two different mechanisms for the 3 and 4/5 door versions of the 360 alone! im sure it could be butchered to fit, but I would wait for a 360 to come up with them fitted - theyre hardly rare!
cheers james

RE: 360 electric windows
To avoid burning out the motors make sure you keep the window channel well lubricated. If the windows sounds a little slow, that's probably the problem, otherwise you'll burn out the motors due to overstrain.

RE: 360 electric windows
Years ago my wife had a toyota carina and sometimes the window would separate from the bottom of the mechanism when she lowered it. I put some 'back to black' on the runners and the silicone lubed it a treat, Never got washed away either. Abstract but it worked.

RE: 360 electric windows
Oh, good idea! Didn't think of that one. I would also check that all the gears inside are well oiled. I would first free them off with WD40 and then ensure they stay free with a bit of 'copper-ease' or just normal grease, but the copper is thicker and will last longer.

RE: 360 electric windows
yes you definately can, i have just done it. all you need are the motors and armature and the toggle switches, if you go to a scrapy then you can just rip the wirring straight out.
