Default How many miles per gallon?

I have been checking the mpg I am getting over the past week or so.

The last two calcuated figures i have give me 49.4 and 52.7 miles per gallon over about 1300 miles.

This is in a 56 plate 2.0 litre diesel S40.

How is anybody esle doing?
Can this be improved as I do about 35000 a year any extra mpg are always welcome.

Hi, in my experience the simple things can help gain a few more miles to a tank full of fuel.

Avoid carrying any excess weight in the car.
Check tyres are fully inflated
Service regularly
You could also try using a higher grade of fuel as some people have said it helps
Also a lot of tuners claim that an ecu remap or chip will increase fuel economy as well as boosting power- which is always nice!

Hope this helps!

Ive been keeping tabs on MPG for my 08 S40 2.0D R-Design with the Road Trip APP on my Iphone and im getting average of 44 MPG(not the worst but hoping for better to be honest)

Can anyone recommend any fuel treathment mixtures you can buy to help clean a Diesel engine and help restore some of the fuel economy??

Got 28.6 out of my C70 with my mixed driving going to work over a tank (12 miles each way) which I thinks pretty good for a heavy petrol car with 240bhp at this time of year. Admittedly that was only doing 65 on dual carridgeway... Usually get about 27 doing 70-75 indicated...

As for my 760 <cough> think I'd better get some shares in a petrol company

just try putting decent fuel in. our v70 2.5 tdi does very well on the occasional drop of super diesel between 46 -48 average.i also find that if you keep your right foot off the floor it also helps i suppose us yorkshire lads do have the advantage of being decendants of the famous roman emperor
titus arsecus, now if i could just get my electricity bill down from,HOW MUCH!!
