Volvo coolant certainly does as I can verify by having used it for the last 40 years , That's why I keep saying it is the best …. from experience not hearsay . I have a 1988 343 with it's original coolant , still as bright and clean as it was 30 years ago , and this is repeated in the many volvos I see each week and the 4 cars I have owned for the last 30 to 40 years . you might find that the factory coolant used from about 2009 to 2014 does go off colour due to the corrosion inhibitors failing ( cost cutting no doubt ) but the freezing point is always still -minus 37C , replacement coolant bought from volvo parts though has always been the best quality .

I have a question for "any Volvo mechanic" out there pertaining to my '07 V70.
I'm in No. America and purchased my car from a Volvo dealer. Service records which included a coolant refreshment.

My coolant is a pale, clear green color. It's as if someone used G-05 to refill after draining the radiator. Blue + yellow = green?

I'm asking if Volvo ever switched to a pale green coolant.

I have no problem tossing what's in there for the real thing.

Happy Canada Day.

I'm assuming the bottles we would buy these days from Volvo are this 'cost cutting' cheaper product ?

You asked the same question last October and the answer is still the same.

Do us (me) a favor, please.
After you buy the coolant tell us what color it is.

I ask because the coolant in my car, an '07, appears pale green in the reservoir.
I do not know if it's a resultant color of Volvo blue mixed with G-05 (a commonly used substitute which is yellow) or what was said to be Volvo's "new color".
When I noticed the color, the dealership mechanic said, "Yeah, Volvo's going to green now".

It seems that it’s each to their own re coolant lasting, but I suspect there’s a reason there’s a service interval for it and that the chemistry rather implies it’s justified....

There isn't a service interval for changing it ...

I could beg to differ but I’m not going to change your mind. (I had to choose a spec of antifreeze for a forthcoming vehicular product just the other month; believe me, it does not last indefinitely)

I'm just saying , volvo do not have a change interval for coolant … where did you get your information ? Things may be different in different markets of course .
