RTI Sat Nav in 2005 model XC90 ?
Recently bought a pre-registered XC90 with RTI Sat/Nav in it.
I understood that TMC would be functional and traffic reports would be captured. However it seems that I need to obtain the 3 disc DVD box set to upgrade the navigation system, to make this work. Now, the dealer won't give me a free upgrade because all 05 reg cars got the same single disk version. Volvo UK say it is chargeble at £200! Since TMC does not work in the UK without the upgrade is Volvo not obliged to provide a free upgrade since the system is advertised (and was for 2005 model) with TMC ? What have other users found out ? Failing a free upgrade, where can I obtain a a disc at a lower price ? p.s. The XC90 drives very well and I'm very happy in other respects. |

RE: RTI Sat Nav in 2005 model XC90 ?
Take a look at the blog I started in the General Topics section of this forum. If you enter 'TMC' into the search box you should see the topic 'Traffic Info now available but only if you pay for it' appear.
Having said that I have now been using TMC for about 3-4 months and am less than impressed with it having hit traffic jams it didn't identify and sailing along M-ways at high speed when the route is shown as 'Red' i.e. major problem. It works, but only sometimes..... I prefer to stick with my Traffic Master Freeway which is much more reliable! |

RE: RTI Sat Nav in 2005 model XC90 ?
Thanks for the tip Perussell!
I persuaded Volvo UK and my local Dealer that they should really send me the disks for free. Basically I explained that I had only recently bought the car and the expensive Comms pack includes "RTI SatNav" not just "SatNav". The disks arrived in the post this morning. Haven't tried them yet. |
