Hello everyone
I have been lurking round this site for a while whilst looking for the right C30 for me. I have finally bought a 2011 C30 R design D3 Orange Flame with all black interior lots of extras too, sunroof, premium sound etc.
Very impressed so far. The only thing I don't like is the electronic dipstick I am aware of rising oil levels on the 5 cyl engines so when I picked it up I checked the electronic oil level which showed full, the volvo service guy assured me the oil level was correct and would only drop to 50% when the oil level went down, but how do I check if it is going up I asked ? the engine warning light will come on he replied, Hmmm not good. he did say there was a ( real dipstick ) for servicing but wouldn't say where. Now call me old fashioned but I like to shove a long piece of metal into a hole in the engine pull it out and look at the gold stuff, could anybody tell me where this service dipstick is. Think it could be like the photo.
Thank You

That is the service dipstick and totally from memory it is quite a way down on the front of the engine.

Thats a photo i found while searching Volvo dipstick, you cant even see down the front of the engine never mind get your hand down there, probably have to strip air box out to access it.

Found the dipstick removed the airbox intake scoop, you still need small hands and long arms, ridiculous just to keep you tied to the volvo dealer.
Heres a photo for anyone interested its next to the pipe with the green line on it.

Not really lots of cars now have the electronic dipstick as long as you are aware of the service dipstick location then no issue really.

The electronic dipstick is very accurate , it works on a sonor principle , with vida you can see the difference just an eggcup full of oil makes ... It will tell you when the level is too low and how much to add , It will tell you when it is too high as well , The dipstick is redundant , you are lucky they even fitted that service dipstick really !
