Spotted this on Ebay --

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2612599719...4.m1423.l2649n

Anybody know what is meant by "the front and rear chassis supports, (for the engine and gearbox) were coroded"?

Might take a fair bit of work to recreate the said mounts or reinforce them... Id get a second mechanic to look at it.. Pref a person who deals with older wagens... Might not be as bad as first thought...

It's good to keep the price up on 240 saloons, but by the sound of it this one is going to need quite a bit of work to get it MOT-able.

If the mileage is to be believed, and its not just that that's when it stopped counting, then its done an average of about 2400 miles per year. That means its done lots of very short journeys, which is not great for the engine, or its been left to stand for long period at a time, which I think generally means its a bit rotten.

That rear wing is mentioned there. It's in the intro not in the main text. " .. and offside rear wing has small repairable damage."

I think they are referring to cross members under the engine and gearbox? It would definitely need an experienced inspection. And the seller's idea of prices is what a dealer would want to sell for, far more than what a dealer would pay?

How does a dealer's valet get even under bonnet so gleaming in the time they have???

It could be an opportunity yes.

I thought it looked like a tidy car, til I realised about that rear wing - they seemed to have glossed over that!

Default Repaint?

Is it just my eyes, or is the near-side photograph of a different car - the paint looks a LOT darker?
