My 2003 SE had a sub-woofer, but my 2011 Exec doesn't, and despite it having the Dynaudio "Premium Sound" it isn't as good as my previous XC90.
My children will testify to that

I would think the addition of a sub-woofer a very good idea in the absence of the B&W system (which is almost half the price on US models - grrr).

I debated whether I should add it or not and eventually opted against. At £300.00, it certainly wasn't excessive however I did not feel it would make that much difference.

When the UK MY17 configurator appeared briefly the other day, the sub-woofer option was not available on a Momentum. I didn't check the R-Design nor Inscription.

Of course, it was probably an early/incomplete version so it could change.

Yes, I have it. The basic system is very good, but with Subwoofer it takes it within a hair of the B&W. I've had so called top-end systems in my cars for years and this with Sub bests any of them by quite a margin. It's worth it.

Thanks - I might go for it then

Did you have to do any adjustments on the balance/etc of the system or just left as factory? I find mine ok but not as great quality as someone says...I might check if all speakers are working correctly

I added the subwoofer, as the B&W upgrade just didn't seem worth £3k. It's subtle, compared to a traditional retro fitted sub,I find I have to have it on full to notice it and sometimes (depends on what you're listening to) even then the difference is negligible. Still glad I opted for it though.

Does anyone know if Volvo can retrofit a subwoofer? My lease limit didn't allow me to take this as an option.

I have to say that I am not that impressed with the standard audio system, especially the DAB quality and any audio file of less than 320Kbps. I do feel that a subwoofer would add some depth that is lacking.

I might call the supplying dealer to see what they say, but I am sure that there are more knowledgable types on this forum.

Thanks

Roj

Thumbs down

I tried to install at my dealership - they ordered the part and went to install it (according to them 3 hours job) but then said the part does not fit and volvo actually does not sell aftermarket subwoofers to the XC90 but only as factory option....???

They said if I can confirm the part number though they should be able to do it?

Could anyone confirm?

thanks

+++ for the avoidance of doubt they didn't charge me anything
