Took mine to local car hifi place. They said a non Volvo retro fit would need an additional processor plus sub speaker and to make dummy side panel to mount it in.

Just having this debate with dealer now - apparently still not able to retro fit but I can't see why - surely order the part, fit it in the side panel in the boot, plug it in and update software, should be away you go?

Last time I check the sub was not offered as an option anymore- they instead introduced a Harman-Kardon premium sound pack (which among other things includes a 200mm sub..)

You are right about the HK upgrade with sub, it is coming in for MY19 cars however I have arriving a MY18.5 which is fixed in terms of spec (I jumped on it via a cheap lease deal) and I can't add a sub now via factory but want to do it when it arrives.

Having said that, I finally drove a car this morning with standard Hi Performance Sound and it sounded better than my 2014 old shape with £1,000 Premium Sound upgrade..! So maybe I won't need a sub after all ..
