Oops, my bad if so, I was talking about the 'classics'. I know next to nothing about more modern Volvos, I'm still in the 1990's here. The OP set us a pretty wide range to answer, I wonder if he has decided which one to go for yet

T5 in a V70 r
Hi thanks for the info, the reason i avsked is because My bortger has a V70 r and it always seende notoriously slow for what it was and for standard like I had a v70 t5 cd which ran a lot better than his in al round performance. Maybe something was wrong somewhere.

the electric seat motors are really heavy as well, I would imagine your R had one both sides! When I had my T5 I deliberately bought one that was a base model with no electric seats sunroof etc!!

Two electric seat motors Angle gear Propshaft Rear diff Rear axles/driveshafts I don't have to drag them about now mind you at wide open throttle the torque steer on the S70 can be entertaining, the AWD drive was pretty stable even under hard acceleration. Probably why I thought it was slower.......

Not sure about the T5's but my '99 phase 2 V70R had VVC on the exhaust cam only. So I heard anyway never actually saw it. Certainly my 98 model year S70 doesn't have this so even more weight saved lol

i believe the dual VVT units came from around 2003 ? The exhaust VVT is only for emission purposes not power .
