Default 1991 940 Yazaki odometer repair

my 940 Yazaki odometer stopped working after 200k came up, and this seems to be a common failure. I followed the USA guide and replaced all the capacitors on the pcb but this did not cure the fault - speedo works fine but odometer and trip odometer don't move. Has anyone got any advice on substituting a different speedo head (s/h Yazaki speedos seem to be unavailable due to this common failure) or a recommendation on where I can get a reliable, professional repair job done?

Thanks
Ian F.

If you really need one I have one for sale although I am in New Zealand and it's in kilometres not miles.

From your description however I think the plastic gear inside your speedometer has cracked, you can take it to an instrument specialist & get the plastic gear replaced. Faulty capacitors on the PCB usually cause the opposite symptoms - speedometer not working but odometer & trip meter still works.

OK, thanks for this, pity you are about as far away as is possible! I think I will have another look inside the head and see if I can spot any broken gears, thanks for the advice,
