If your front rattle goes when braking i would be looking at the pads, Outers could be rattling around in the carriers.

The calliper's do wear youre right what I do is plenty of copper ease on the backs, in the I also welded two blobs on the calliper which I filed down, tricky but I got there in the end the pads sit snugly now, no movement in the slightest. I had the same issue with my s40 and that's what I did. They used to rattle until I appled the brakes.

I've never had rattly pads before!
However.. it makes sense so I'll have a gander when I get a moment.

That looks like the later Mk2 version. Pretty good price for all the things that it does.

I am really pleased with mine and personally liked the idea that I could keep the standard SC901 in place.

It appears that many people rip out the SC901 (Alpine made) and replace it with a modern mid ranged double din radio only to find the sound is in fact not as good as the Pro Logic surround.

I admit to being one of 'those' people.
I had a spare £350 pioneer doubleD, so I put it in... the next day I took it out and put it back in the cupboard!

I have noticed a slight crackle from the front passenger speaker, so I want to replace all of them.

Does anybody have any recommendations for replacement speakers?

A few doors down from tesco express in Preston Marc and he will sort you out take the old speakers in and he will give you replacements that screw straight in, I replaced mine with kenwoods sound is a lot better and they didn't cost a fortune.

It's a proper ice shop and he knows his stuff is it called liquid ice I can't remember what it's called tbh, but it's a few doors down from tesco.

It's the 2.4 S70 CD TURBO, and I got it from an old boy down the road.
It's been serviced every 8k miles on the dot, and is in almost perfect condition, with 11months test and no advisories, and the paint work is almost showroom.

The door cards need a little work, it seem's the leather is coming away on the back 2, but hopefully I can reglue it.

It also has a scuff on the front left bumper, but again, it's an easy fix.

The interior is in very good condition, and everything works as it should.

I am a very happy chappy.

Now for the advice bit.
Is there anything I should check on the car?
Are there any common issues to look at?

The mechanic at work is going to service it for me on Monday for the princely sun of 12 bottles of Stella... can't complain on that score!

Any way, thanks for reading guys.

This might be your first Volvo, but I guarantee it won't be your last! Welcome on board - and to Volvo ownership, too. I've had a few Volvo's now - a 760 turbo, three 240's, a V70 T5 and an 850 T5 - and I must say they remain my favourite make of car, having owned Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW and other less prestigious makes.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. Ignore the uniformed who say Volvo's are old mans cars; my V70 T5 and 850 T5 would give most modern hot-hatches a run for their money.
A friend of mine drove my V70 T5. He had a Honda Fireblade so he was familiar with the V70, particularly when he had one glued to his rear wheel, sirens and blue lights in full swing!

@Kieran I quite often pop in there actually, when I used to have this area as my delivery route I used to pick up all his eBay sales every evening!

@Mr Plinge technically it's not my first Volvo... when I was 16 my old man gave a 363 to practice tinkering on and to drive around the fields... but the less said about that the better!
I'm not to sure about the new Volvos if I'm honest.
They seem to be going plastically and are turning into just another Euro box on wheels.
Mind you that's the EU idiots fault... spoiling decent cars and ruining our fun.

I pulled my van in next to the volvo tonight after work to find a note put under the wiper.

Basically a little old lady scraped her car along the back of the volvo, leaving behind a 18inch long by 4 inch wide scuff on the bumper, a deep one at that.

To say I am furious is an understatement.

The volvo was parked up off the road for goodness sake!

Anyway I spoke to her, and she immediately offered to pay for the damage.
I emailed the chap who done the corner scuffs, and he quoted £126.

I phoned the lady, and she said she will call him tomorrow.

Thank god the bumper isn't dented or cracked!!!
