Default xc90 engine oil leak

i changed the oil in my xc90 and 4 days later had a steady trickle from engine / gearbox joint. anyway six hours of stripping down later we found the main oilway core plug flipped half round behind the flywheel .replaced the crank seal also clutch was fine changed drive coupler between 90 gearbox and gearbox as had wear evident .changed gear box oils .just wondering how to get the oil out of the rear dif as there doesnt seem to be a drain plug ?

Not done one, but similar esperiences would say seperate dif from housing, clear breather as well.

On the other note, core plugs and seals blow for a reason. Be sure you have investigated all breathing inc pipes and block/head/crankcase breathers. Pressure has built up to do this damage. People make the mistake of extensive and admirable repairs, only to neglect breathers then the whole lot has to be done again within weeks.

Seen it time and time again mate. Apologies if teaching you how to suck eggs.

forgot to say the car has 167,000 miles on and has full service history wether there was a problem elsewhere.everything seems fine now.the core plugs have a differant design all steel instead of half rubber coating . and the volvo dealer didn t seemed to surprised at the fault and said it should see the car out now we have replaced those parts . many thanks .

70p part that takes 8 hours labour to fit,

Just be thankful it isn't an auto as them boxes are really heavy
