producing my own grilles
Hi all , i am very interested in designing and producing my own gel coat/fibreglass body parts hopefully for many cars ? but for now i have decided to start by producing my very own '00 + v70 grille , first of all heres a little about myself .
I am 31 years old and have been a painter and decorator for over 16 years gaining experience with all kinds of different paints and products . I found my passion for cars when i was 16 years old when i purchased my first car " a little pug 205 " i had it a mere 3 hours or so before i started to modify it ! obviously i had no clue as to what i was doing and practically ruined the car haha ! but i enjoyed it and my work got better and more ambitious as the years went on . after smoothing boot lids , fitting various spoilers , bonnet vents etc i got interested in the audio side of cars and decided to have a go at fibre glass bass enclosures ? In the end a friend and i built an enclosure that filled the boot and even some pods on the boot lid ! So since then i've had loads and loads of different cars including impreza's , veedubs , type r's etc all with different body modifications carried out ! bumpers / boot lids smoothed , wide arches blended in , my latest project car "corsa c "has porsche 944 side skirts cut and blended in wide rally arches !! In short i really have a passion and enjoy modifying cars So i have just purchased my second v70 t5, after my last one was written off by a very careless driver ! I absolutely love these cars and have big plans for it , i have already fitted some bc coilovers , boot spoiler and repaired every dent on the car , which was literally every single panel and smoothed all the textured plastic mouldings on the car so they can be colour coded . but i have realised there isnt much available for them that is tasteful ? So i have decided to start making my first product which is going to be an open style front grille . I am using my original grille as the base so when finished it will fit perfectly , i have removed all the slats and will be making the surround slightly more chunky . I think the v70 is crying out for this grille and it will transform the front end without making it look tacky . once the mould is made i can easily create duplicate copies of it using good quality gel coat/fibreglass and sell them primed ready for paint supplied with mesh . my photobucket accound is playing up at the moment otherwise i would have posted some images of the concept and progress . I thought i would ask you guys and girls of your opinions please ? as most of you are volvo enthusiasts what kind of other styling products would you like to see for the v70 ? Do you think my idea of an open style grille would go down well for volvo v70 owners ? any opinions / ideas would be very much apretiated Thanks for reading Dave |

hard to visualize, but it looks too chunky for my liking.

It would be good to see it on the car to get a better idea of how it looks.
Not sure about the mesh, think I would prefer a smaller one, maybe a 'cross hatch' one? |

ill take a pic of it on the car for you soon , the chunky surround was deliberate and in my opinion really looks at home once in place , something a bit different that really transforms the front end appearance . What do you mean by "cross hatch" you mean like the popular criss cross mesh ?
