M40 gearbox with cover and stick UK
Hi,
my gearbox has chewed itself up. Looks like the end of the stick is damaged which has in turn damaged fouled up it's innards. Please let me know if you happen to have a gearbox complete with cover and stick. Thanks, |

I have seen an issue with these gearboxes which can be fixed, though this may not be your problem.
If you remove the gearbox lid, sat under the lid you will see a 6mm thick steel plate which is spring loaded, being held in place by 2 x circlips. This plate ensures that only 1 gear can be selected, they occasionally break and allow 2 gears to be selected, this in turn completely locks up the gearbox. By simply replacing this item, ( i have seen them welded) may solve your problem. regards, Chris. |

Thanks Chris, I'll have a look. In process of moving house at the moment so hopefully a good replacement turns up soon!
