Default Did this ever get fixed?

I have exactly the same problem on a 97 v70 2.0 petrol auto. I replaced the cam position sensor, crank sensor, water temperature sensor, distributor and leads, and it's still doing it.

The symptoms are identical - starts fine when cold, does not start when hot. Turning over just fine, but only for 5 or 6 seconds and then stops.

I've had a friend do a full scan on it, and the only error conditions were relating to the airbag, so I don't think that is going to be a cause.

Default Hot start issue

My son had this problem with his 1997 S70 2.5 auto. Several garages tried to fix the issue and many suggestions were made including fuel, temp sensor, crank sensor, coil, plus others. The garage that fixed it simply changed the plug leads, distributor cap and rotor arm. Actually, inside the cap was disgusting. How the car was functioning was a minor miracle. This might not be your fix but worth a look.

Idle Air Inlet Control Valve - if the car has one - could possibly cause the problems you're describing.

Relatively easy to remove and clean and then put back.

A dodgy camshaft sensor should throw a fault code.

Default Fix for hot start fault on my V70

The fix for failing to start/rev once hot for my 1999 v70 2.5 petrol was to remove the distributor and clean the distributor and rotor arm contacts with the blade of a screwdriver.

It now revs correctly when hot. Prior to cleaning contacts the motor died as soon as the accelerator was pressed then struggled to start again while still hot, and only when cool again started reliably.

Hope this works on yours.
