Default Remanufacture steering u joint

So having had a couple of these cars now and worked on several others it has come to my attention that they suffer from a worn steering u joint that is evident in steering play that I think is often mistenterpreted as steering rack play. Having had several u joints out, every one of them had considerable play. So I rebuilt one with a generic u joint kit. This completely solved the problem. The issue is that they are not fit for the road once this is done due to the way in which the bearing caps are retained using a single use crimp design. Is there any interest in a redesigned factory u joint that would have circlip retention for the bearings which would mean they will be forever rebuild able?
