Xc90 mk1 electric harness
Morning.
Fitting a second hand tow bar next week (almost new) but want a plug and play harness as I don't want to splice things. From looking around it seems Volvo parts is actually the cheapest at £111. Can this be right. Other non Volvo brands are around £125-160. Am I missing something? |

You've ot necessarily miseed a trick.
Before pulling the trigger on the parts gun I always get a price from the dealer, and about a third of the time they're one of the cheapest, and another third perhaps pricier but not enough to bother trying to save a few pennies on pattern parts. The final third can often be eye-watering though. Remember your discount for club members too.

Thanks for your comment, I'm yet to purchase and will be calling my local dealer tomorrow. The site I've seen it on is https://www.volvoparts.tmsmotorgroup.co.uk so I assume Volvo or is it an independent company?
Can I ask, how do we get discount and where? |

The discount varies but is typically 10% at the dealer. Just flash your membership card and demand satisfaction although I've never even been asked to show my card.
TMS are a quite legit franchised dealer, with several premises.

From a Google search (and face book) it suggests I need a trailer module? I thought I only needed the loom/harness for plug and play....
What's the module, I assume it's not fitted to the car from factory. Is there anything else I need? I was trying to do this on a budget but seems to be adding up now and I'm too far in to pull out as have a trip booked for next month! |

Volvo kit should come with all the parts required in the box along with the instructions. Straight forward fitting without any hassle of cutting and splicing

I've added the socket, run the cables, just need to source a module. Do I need to remove the side panel to add the module. I've tried undoing the bolt in the trim but none of my sockets seem to fit so can't remove the panel. Don't know if I'm having a senior moment here. |
