how to replace fuel pump belt?
hello everyone,
my fuel pump belt has been loosing teeth lately, being a moron i waited to long to replace it. I have a slight hunch that the timing is already off, though right before we stopped using it there wasn't any white smoke or anything. It just made one hell of a racket. So, what do we do? just block the pump, take out the tensioner and idler, replace the belt and put things back? i've searched everywhere to get a decent picture of the markings on the pullies and the belt itself to get basic timing...can't seem to find it. My mecanic doesn't have the equipment to hook it up to a computer and what-not so i'll have that done afterwards.... in this topic someone talks about markings but it's too vague for me. Could anyone explain better or even post pictures? i found a pic like this: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...6755&mode=view but it's the wrong belt anyone? cheers Pieter

I know this doesn't answer your question but my advice would be take it to a specialist or main dealer and let them do it, it can only be set up properly by the proper volvo software. I've done cam belts myself before but I wouldn't dream of touching the TDi one, I'm booking mine in with volvo in the next few weeks to have it done. I would never normally get a main dealer to do any work on the car but this is the one exception.
Someone I know took his TDi to kwik fit about a year ago for new belts (I tried to warn him not too!) and the result was £1,100 to have a second hand engine fitted, plus what ever they charged him to do the belts! Last I heard he was still trying to get kwik fit to pay for it but they were insisting they did the job properly and it was something else that made the engine blow, despite the independent engineers report saying it was the timing!
