Default Boost - suffocation?

Hello my wise wizards of Volvo-land.

For the record I have replied to as many threads to help others as I could in order to set the balance of me, asking question and giving back into the community, once more there was a lovely guy whom had broken down on the M4 - he had a V70R P2 and I felt that my help would be appreciated, so I stopped, reconnected the pipe that had come lose, and off he was again. tried to give me money - however I replied with "In Volvo-land, we are one" - NO IDEA what has gotten into me, I'm just in one of those moods.

Anyway... My problem!

Since I've had my V70R P1 I've felt that its not quite above the 200BHP mark. Currently I have an 02 sensor that's faulty so I know that'll be a contribution. What's bugging me is that the turbo (and you can really hear it windows closed) sounds like a siren when foot down. I know this is probably 90% a boost leak, however it almost sounds like the turbo is being suffocated? The sound is like a siren going down pitch, then comes to a low pitch and stays at that pitch if flooring it.

I want to renew all vacuum and air pipes at some point in January so this might help but was just wandering if someone could point me in the correct direction...

Many thanks in advance.

Jak.

I wouldnt complicate it, that there is a classic boost leak. Just check your hoses, my money is on the bottom intercooler connection, and I'm sure you will find the culprit.

Or the pipe directly from the turbo.... it is easy to put those on slightly off centre & they make a hell of a din.....
