Under-bonnet noise/heat shielding panels
Hi
Did any of the 240/60s come with under-bonnet noise/heat sheilding panels such as the 'carpety' stuff stuck on other cars?? I notice the noise levels of my B200F are quite loud and 'boomy' at low revs. Would sound deadening panels help? Would they cause overheating problems? Does the noise come from so many other areas (transmission/wind etc) that its not worth fussing about? Would appreciate comments as ready to stick and cut to size noise suppression panels seem easy to get hold of. Cheers Chris |

Obviously any sound deadening will reduce noise levels. However, could booming noise be that the exhaust has lost some baffles. Noise levels shouldn't be too bad in the car - are all doors shutting tightly? Is the soundproofing around gearlever intact? Are all gromments through bulkhead intact?

My 1993, 240SE has underbonnet soundproofing panel factory fitted, you might manage to find one in a breakers, as I imagine a new one from Volvo would cost a few bob.

RE: Under-bonnet noise/heat shielding panels
Hi,
The turbo and the diesel cars had under-bonnet "carpets". Also, if you are having problems with sound around the doors, grab the extra seal that the 1986(?) and up cars got if yours are older.

Thanks everyone, I'll give all the seals and exhaust a good check over and try my local breakers yard for a 'carpet'
