Rear light system malfunction
Hi all
Has anyone seen the below error messages before? - Real light system malfunction - Turn indicator system malfunction, service required Hazards work everywhere, however when indicating left/right, the rear ones don't work at all. Then when I switch the car off and lock it, the rear lights stay on. They've been on for the last hour so I imagine the battery will be dead by tomorrow morning. Tried factory reset and reboot, neither made any difference. Any ideas? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SMe...usp=share_link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tda...usp=share_link |

Just had this issue - the lights appear to be off completely at the rear, must be a recent problem did you get a solution or do you need to book it in like it says? Thanks, David

Eventually fixed by (under warranty) replacment of the lights control module. However, I have a suspicion that at some point the old module was removed for inspection and replaced on the second dealer visit which could have sorted out a dodgy seating/connection and after which things appeared resolved - but the decision to replace had by then been made, and was waiting for Volvo approval and delivery of the new part. Don't let a dealer suggest "software updates"!

I did take it in to Marshall's in Nottingham and it turns out the cables that go to the indicators in the bootlid were damaged. As the boot lid lifts and closes the cables weren't tucked away in their place as they should have been and over time they pretty much broke in half.
Initially I thought it was going to be lights control module issue as well based on the (very) limited info I could find from other people reporting the same issue, but I'm glad it wasn't as that would have been a much larger job. Anyway, all sorted within warranty so all good. |

I wonder why you don't mention the year and model of your car,
it can help you and others.
