Default D5 or D4 C30 & tuning

I'm going to replace my MY07 2.0TD C30 soon.
With another C30 because it's so good!
Question is they seem to have stopped offering the 2.4 D5 but have upped the output of the 2.0 to almost the same output (D4)
So which do I hunt for?
Is the D4 tunable or have Volvo maxed it out to replace the D5?

exactly , the D4 is in quite a high state of tune so not much room for expansion . The D3 is exactly the same as the D4 except the power over 3800 rpm is restricted .
Go for a D4 and enjoy an even livlier engine with much better fuel consumption than the D5 !

cheers
I presumed Volvo had done this to reduce the upfront weight and improve emissions.
On that bsis I presume it is the same D4 unit fitted to other Volvo's?
Is there no breathing or exhaust improvements?

The weight is the same , it is the same engine as the D5 except the stroke has been reduced to make it 2 litre capacity , a shorter stroke makes an engine more revable . The reduced capacity makes the emissions better , and the injection system has been modified for the same reason , reduced emissions = better fuel consumption .
The engine designations changed a couple of years ago ,
D2 D3 D4 D5 no longer refer to a particular engine , but to an engine within a particular power range . For example the D3 in th C30 is less power than the D3 in the larger volvo cars .

Didn't realise that!
I'd be better of hunting down a D5 and getting Hamish to tune then
