Default How to use the daylight sensor signal

With my DRL project I got to a point where everything works as expected but I would like to switch on/off the _normal_ light (dipped beam) automatically depending on light conditions.

Easy way would be to use the built in daylight sensor which switches the dash light. Any idea how to use its signal?

And where exactly is it on a 2007 C30?

Thanks

To keep things positive, if you want a daylight sensor I'd suggest you install your own. That way you have access to the output from your circuit to do as you wish.

I think you've already answered your own question in your previous topic. The CAN-Bus is laughing at you, the signal is encoded into the stream of data along with many, many others. To get at the signal you need a decoder and knowledge of what code to program into the decoder.

Do what you seem to do best and add on, a light sensor could be as simple as an LDR (Light Dependant Resistor), an op amp and a few resistors, by making one of the resistors variable you can control the light level at which the circuit switches on/off.

The sensor is in the alarm flashing led in the top of the dash. But as said above, sort your own circuit and sensor out as it's a lot simpler to do.

Thanks guys for the contributions - I will go with my own setup then.

Would this be something to consider?

Perfect I'd say. It looks very similar to a kit made by Velleman and sold in the UK by Maplin. If needed you can always take the sensor off the board and mount it on longer wires to help with fitting.

Correction to the above, the kit is now sold by Quasar http://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/I...ive-switch-kit
