Default classic car insurance

Has anyone got there Volvo's on standard classic insurance, which should be around £100 a year, as I am trying to get my 1997 v70xc on a classic policy and struggling to get anyone to accept it. Two years ago I had my 1996 850 TDI on classic insurance, so I am sure it is possible.

Thanks

Have you tried performance direct? Suppose to be specialist in classic and modified cars?

I use Peter Best insurance for my 1997 V70, classic car policy with agreed value, miles limited to 5k (I do much less than that anyway) and fully comprehensive including glass cover, breakdown etc. Very good service, absolutely no problems and way cheaper than "conventional" insurance. Strongly recommended, I have no connection with them whatsoever apart from being a satisfied customer. If they'll insure my '97 V70 surely they'd do yours?

Worth a try?

Tried a couple of years ago and none of the classic insurers would take her cos
1. High London loading

2; not parked on drive but on road outside

I have 2 98 Rs one with Axa at 317. The other with Hastings at 370, 5000 business miles, euro cover for 50 days etc etc, given how they fly I think it is a pretty decent price in a high risk area . 55 this year 19 years Ncb and preying I do not got a summons for ( inadvertently) not having an mot in early December and driving 37 miles - almost there !

I hope people know that taking out Classic Car insurance usually means you don’t get a “No Claims Bonus” unless you’re insurance company says so. I would check.

Won't touch me as under 30 and do average 13-15k per annum.

I have a '98 Mercedes insured with ClassicLine. Although you won't earn a no-claims discount (NCD) with a classic policy, you should give the classic insurer proof of the NCD earned from your previous normal policy. If you later decide to revert to a normal policy the retained NCD can be passed on to your new insurer, as long as you have made no claims under the classic policy of course.

Thanks for all the advice, I have eventually got classic insurance for three vehicles today on a group insurance. Agreed values of £2500 for each car and limited to 2000 miles each car a year. The total cost without anything else added on was £470. Basically £150 each car.

I was struggling to get any proper classic insurance full stop. It seems a bit of a secret service these days. It would be interesting to know how cheap others have managed to get it, as I was quoted as much as £450 just for one vehicle from one insurer!

Classic car insurance isn't dependant on the age of the vehicle but more on the scarcity and desirability. I tried to get classic insurance for my 59,000 mile 1997 Volvo 850 and couldn't get anyone to quote, but I can get classic insurance for a 1997 850T5 because they are apparently rarer and more desirable...

Had a 1998 Jaguar XJV8 5 years ago on classic policy and it was only £120 and a 1947 Rover which was a mere £89
