Default V60 engine D5 or D4

Looking at a couple of R-Design cars and can't decide on engine. Had a V50 D5 before. Head is saying D5. Both are low mileage. The D4 is 190bhp.

Will I be better off with the D4 or would the D5 be the better long term.

D5 is a July 2015
D4 is February 2016

Thanks

If automatic, the D5 will be 6-speed, the D4 will be 8-speed. Latter considered better. If manual, then toss a coin.

Do you need AWD or better (but not outstanding) mpg, similar performance to me having driven both.

The D4 will be the new 4 cylinder engine and the D5 will be the 5 pot engine similar to what you had in your V50 but will be twin turbo and 30 odd more horsepower,

The 4 cylinder will be better on fuel but i really dont think they have the character of the 5 pot engines

Good advice.

The only solid single reason for choosing the D4 over the D5 (in my humble opionion) is company car BIK tax. If you are a private buyer - D5 all the way...

Just realised we're talking V60, so AWD not relevant?
New D4 every time then, go for auto with sport mode, you won't regret it.
If you want to buy sound over head then D5 or just buy an old 3ltr BMW..

Is the D5 Euro 6 or Euro 5, I think by that time it had been updated to E6 but double check as once the diesel crackdown starts it could make a big difference to residuals at some point in the future.

I have a v60 d5 and the sound is 10x better than my previous 4 cylinder. I love it. But given the new crackdown I'd go for whatever euro6 car I could afford or revert to petrol.

The D5 looks like it was sold to someone else. The dealer wasn't really wanting to deal with me as I'm 250 miles away but I was willing to travel for the right car. Will probably be looking for a D4 190 now.
