What is the radio? Should say something like "HU-605" on the front

Also you can ring up a dealer and get a radio code (last known to volvo)) for free.. I would write it on the radio. They arent desirable tbh

If that dosent work, you may need a new radio (cheaper than) or you can go and get the code recovered at the dealers for i think £40

Default radio

I wondered if-having mislaid manual-I had to do anything other than tap in code

Is there a button I need to press before or after entering code?

Not that i can recall, i think you just turn the radio off then back on, if not i think there is a timer on it, i seem to remember having to wait 2 hours before i can try the code again

It should read along the lines of "code _ _ _ _" and you swizzle the knobs till you get the right numeral i think its the setting knob. Been a while since i used a v40 radio hehe

Did you enter a code and then it said off or did it just say off from the start? Just wondering if you may have entered the code wrong.

"OFF" tends to indicate that the wrong code has been entered (at least) three times. (Speaking about the SC-nnn models here.) You will need to ensure that you have the correct code. From the registration number, any dealer will be able to tell you the 'correct' code for the radio ORIGINALLY supplied with the car. If the head unit has been changed from the original then you have the additional problem of actually finding out where the replacement unit came from. Once you have the correct code to hand you will need to set the ignition to position 1 and leave this switched on for at least two hours (and possibly up to 24 hours). After this the unit should read 'CODE' and be ready for you to enter the correct four digit code.

Some dealers want £10.00 (last time I tried) just to enter the registration number on their computer terminal and others do this as a free service.

Leave the radio turned on at all times, the "off " sign will eventually revert back to the code setting (it can take several weeks sometimes) but it will come back.

When it asks for the code, make sure the code is correct otherwise it will do the same again!
