Default T5 exhaust

I'm looking at Jetex cat back exhaust systems and wondering if I should go for the 'resonated' version or the noisier non-resonated (with racepipe) version.

I'm not planning on doing any tuning so a 2.5 inch system is fine. I'm just hoping for a bit more noise than the standard system (which is beginning to fall apart btw).

In terms of alternative brands, I can't find any Milltek systems out there and Shark seem to have disappeared. So Jetex appears to be pretty much the only choice for off-the-peg.

So, resonated or non-resonated? Any views? Is the noisier system too noisy for road use and MoT testers?

Many thx

I can't talk about the noisy version but I had the standard one on my S40 T5. The noise at revs was a nicer sound but inside the cabin you genuinely wouldn't know there was a sport exhaust fitted. It's pretty quiet. What I would caution is, if you have a pre-2007 without the bodykit then don't entertain the idea of a Jetex. The tips protrude so far out of the stock bumper it looks like a spaceship. If you've got a pre-2007 Sport or a post 2007 then you're likely fine.

Yup I previously had a Jetex 2.5 system, was just a standard one from Demon Tweaks. Was nice, a bit more noise than stock but still sounded oem inside. Its a good system and served well. Was in the same situation as you, my oem system was looking a bit old so swapped in the Jetex on and passed MOT fine.

Your choices here are the Jetex one, or you can just go get a custom exhaust system made.

Thanks for your thoughts, iainmd and domhart10. I have a Jetex non-resonated (the noisy one) cat-back system on order. The car is an r-design so no worries on the protruding tips

If you want a laugh, here's what it looks like on a non-bodykit S40. And this.

If you like everything else, (but the tip length) why not nip a bit off to suit the look you're after?
