Looks far too good to be abused and then prematurely scrapped. However, one has to inspect before attempting to buy unseen. We bought a reasonable-looking one last year, and when jacking up on chassis itself the jack went up but the car didn't - the rails had entirely rotted away - underseal hid all the rot.

Cool

You can look up the MOT history here https://mot-history.net/

I note the major exhaust leak fail is now an advisory noisy exhaust. A bit of paste and tape I guess. May have been a freebie or sale for a few hundred after the 1st owner died so on that basis the price is pretty fierce but perhaps I'm being cynical. Pity that it needs a new interior..... Currently overbid IMO.

Another £1500, currently, would buy the Bentley he's selling.

What the hell is that white box and all the red wiring for???

I was amazed at the excitement this has caused - 6 days to go too

Maybe they are stooge bidders? I share your cynicism with this one

The price may be a bit steep though, Derek, but thats the way 140 values seem to be going now: people are suddenly thinking they are rare so must be worth high money. We both know a couple that have been valued (by whom?) as worth over £3K each.
Mind you, a look on ebay at the more common makes like Ford is surprising: who on earth would pay thousands for a mid '70s former repmobile, or a bog-standard Escort. I threw mine away as it was rusting severely and was so basic anyway. They didn't earn the name Dagenham Dustbins for nothing.

You can have this one if you have the best part of £8000 to spend?

Yes .. thats mine.. Been working on her for the last six months and she is now back to pretty much original.
I have lost my garage as we are moving and I wont be able to build a new one until next year ( planning consent).
As a few of you on here know , I have with your kind help, totally renewed the brakes and suspension and done all the other painfully annoying jobs such as renewing the lamps behind the heater controls and a new heater matrix.
Just had a week touring Holland in her.. never missed a beat.
She will be a good car for someone who has not got the time and knowledge to bring a car to this standard and wants reliability from the start to take to shows or use as a daily driver.
Also, my daily ride finally needs renewing, so I will be buying another V70 very shortly.
At least that can be left outside.
As Triple S has said. Classic cars are definitely increasing in value and this can be seen in all popular marques.
The price of welding, bodywork and other garage services today is that expensive that unless you are a enthusiast with a brother who is a mechanic it is not worth buying a medeocre car as you can easily spend 3 or 4 grand bringing it up to scratch to just pass a mot. And that is on top of the purchase price.
I have already been offered £6750 for her from a dealer in Holland and these chaps are not buying them to drive them. In my opinion the 140 cars will follow the 120 series very closely in values as it is only the shape of the body panels that is different. and, As it is getting harder all the time to find decent original cars with no welding or full of bondo and fibre glass matting, this will always reflect in the prices of good samples if, and when they become available. Buying a "Minter" for two grand is now a delution and hearing of a good one through "Word of mouth" is a thing of the past with the inception of auction sites and classic car web pages.
I have had Volvos since the 1960s I think this one is my 9th.

I had a look at the "Blue Doom" advert.. Over two & a half grand now.
It needs a 3 grand respray, new interior, probably tyres , and thats without looking underneath that can cost you a couple of K with brakes, suspension & exhaust . The wiring does not really seem o.e.m.
So you would be up to 6 grand plus and still have holes in the dashboard and thats without doing anything to the engine, box, clutch or axle.
OK..So its probably a good project car that with lots of time , Ed China, a big fully equipped garage and fat wallet could make it a good sample.
I rest my case.. M.Lud.

seems Doom Blue (why Doom??) has stalled at

£2,550.00
22 bids

I've never used ebay but can anyone give me an idea why there'd be a sudden rush of 22 bids then silence for 3 days???

Cheers
