Default New Insurance Quotes

Have just done an some insurance quotes for my new XC60 due next month. I was pleasantly surprised that AXA came in @ £320. I was expecting to have to pay more.
I will now wait for my current provider Admiral to come in with their renewal price.

I've just had my renewal from Direct Line for the XC90. Last year it was £254 and this year it's £359; a £105 or 41% increase. On Money Supermarket all the quotes were more expensive except the AA at £353 .

That's some jump in price.
It will be interesting to know how much my multi car renewal with Admiral will be.The annoying thing is my renewal date is the 13th September, and my new XC60 is due on the 15th, so that will mean an administration cost to change over.
At the end of the day, whenever I change over will mean admin charges, so I can't really win.
I'm sure it will be worth it.

not sure if you get 7 days or something like that to "change" your policy, will be worth asking, or take yours to the dealers a few days early, if that is where it is going.. best regards

I renewed a car that needed insurance for just 2 days, then cancelled it under the 14day cooling off period, as I had done it over the phone, and the understanding insurance broker didn't charge me a penny, in fact they even suggested that was what I needed to do!

This is one reason why I use a broker, instead of going direct, as they can do this kind of thing for you, and as I swap underwriter nearly every year (for better quotes), they handle all of that for me.

You are right, I can get 7 day's free Volvo insurance, perhaps I will ask if the dealer could take my PX a few days early and loan me a car for a few days.

Might be worth a shot.
Thanks.

I phoned my insurance company when I ordered the new car. The premium will be about 5% less, unbelievable, I can change cars on line and to tax the car the dealer only has to phone the Insurance Company I was told, no need for a cover note.

That good @ 5% less. I think like a lot of things, cover notes are a thing of the past.

i think I tried to drive mine away with Volvo 7day free insurance but wouldnt cover me as I needed to insure the car for business use. Upgraded it to a full quote on the day which was ok for the first year then guess what you have to move at renewal as usual! They were very helpful though and that was RSAlliance
