Thumbs down Essential read for inverter buyers!!

If you are thinking of buying a 12v to 240v inverter for your touring caravan and are tempted by some good prices on offer I would IMPLORE you to have a read through this web page.

The fact that some are unreliable is the least of the problem.

Some are outright dangerous.

Read this

I came across it by chance whilst browsing the web on another subject and whilst it is pretty boring to persons without an interest in electronics the message ( the danger, or even lethality, of some badly designed ones ) is in there for anyone to see.

I have an ancient 300W inverter that works fine but had thought about a more powerful one ( though not this one ) at today's prices.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING AN INVERTER - THESE ARE AVAILABLE ON EBAY NOW.

Colin

Missaimed thanks there I'm afraid brodgar - I didn't write the article though electronic construction used to be an interest/employ of mine and I was thinking of starting again, that's how I came across it.

I read the article throughout and it really is shocking .

Now that guy is very clued up on the subject.

Exclamation not be tempted by cheap copys

thats scarey i was told by an electrician about cheap copys of comsumer units (fuse boxs) for homes and you can buy the latest series 17 consumer unit along with all the thermal cut outs etc and have it fitted from about £500 for a normal sized home depending on if theres an electric shower cooker and garrage circuits etc but there are some rouges trying to sell and fit cheap copys that can set your house on fire under a normal load and dont even put of the power in the event of an emerency.i dit not think the copys could be this bad untill i read this thread.
