Default XC70 Mirror Cover Removal

Before I break something, please could someone tell me how to take the mirror back cover off of my XC70?

It doesn't appear to clip around the edge as described in my V70 Haynes manual, so I wonder if it's different on the XC70.

The reason I want to take it off is because the mirror has become wobbly and I want to get insode to see what has become loose.

Thank you.

Oh dam and blast; I should have more patience. I've gone and busted the lot now.... Broken the motor for the glass adjustment too and there's no left to right movement even though the motor's buzzing.

XC70 is a different shape to S60 although the innards may be interchangeable.

If that mirror is from a car with electric memory seats, I might be interested in it just to extract the motor to adjust the glass.

Is it driver's side?

Now that you have it all open (I assume), can you give us some tips on how not to break it?
My offside mirror wouldn't close with the button when I bought it. The motor makes noise for about 30 seconds but only nearside closes and opens. Have to do offside manually. Haven't poked around as I didn't want to make it worse than it is.

Sadly I've not worked out how to get the cover off. But I seem to have broken the adjustment motor getting the glass off. Bad luck.

Worse is that I can't find a similarly aged XC70 breaking and the part from Volvo is £300. I'm going to live with it in the hope someone's XC70 ends up in the wreckers for me.

That is unless anyone has a suggestion on my loose and wobbly mirror? Please!!
