Very thin on the ground round here now, I still run my 850R as a daily, I see a couple of S70s fairly regular & a small handful of V70s, still a few C70s around. I only see one other 850, it’s a tidy looking saloon, but don’t see it often. There was until recently a red & a white 850 estates knocking about the town, but they seem to have vanished. You don’t see many 700 or 900 series cars now either. On one hand it surprises me with them being so well built, but on the other the newest are now over 20 years old. I think the scrappage probably thinned them out drastically.

In my part of the home counties, there's none for miles, I don't see another for months. Whereas in Amersham/Chesham there's a small Volvo independent. As a result P80s and early 90s stuff is still a fairly common sight, you'll not drive thru' those towns without seeing at least one.

Took the V70 to the ski slopes this week. Parked along side a lot newer and a lot more expensive Mercs, BMW's and ugly cross over things, and guess what? Looked totally the part, not out of place at all and didn't miss a beat the entire way. Didn't see another P80 car which was a shame, but I am sure they are one of the best kept secrets out there

Still plenty in Norfolk
I agree, these cars are brill, the best made Volvo ever in my opinion!
I've had a later V70 D5, four P80s, two and a half I still own and in the past I ran many different 140s, 160s, 240s, 260s and a 760 turbo. Those other cars were all great in their day and I still will always respect them but I have come back to the P80s as my main transport and enjoy every minute with them I see many around North Norfolk too so maybe its because the place is full of old gits like me! |
