Default Abs traks

The warning lights came on a while ago I pressed the switch and they seem to go off, the warning lights came on again so pressed the switch and they stay on. Is the switch like the rear screen heater switch where you get a click and the switch remains in the on position until it's turned off? Only with the TRAKS switch when you press it and let go it goes back to the off position. I hope this makes sense. Also I notice that the switch as a warning light on it. this doesn't come on at all, could this be a faulty switch?

If the ABS light is on as well, then there is a fault. The switch should only disable TRACS alone. You'll need to get it plugged in to a code reader to find out what fault code it's throwing.

Default OBD2 Readers

Can anyone recommend a OBD2 reader that can be used on a Volvo 850 that can be used on a laptop or mobile

You'll need an Android phone

850 OBDII app which is available from Google Play for less than a couple of pounds

This dongle...Click

Default Thanks mate

I get one thing sorted and something else happens, it looks like the ABS Module needs to be repaired seems a common fault with a 1996 850

If you can use a soldering iron, it's fairly straightforward to resolder the pins under the main plug, which is where the majority of them go.

Best make sure it's that first. An ABS and TRACS light points to a general issue with ABS, so it could be a dirty or cracked reluctor ring, loose or broken sensor, or in my case, a broken pressure switch at the master cylinder.

Yep, the solder repair is pretty straightforward - I've done it twice unfortunately!

A good write up here - https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...8b02887d26437d

Good luck
